STUDENT ORIENTATION
Gravitas kicks off its 2022-2023 regular school year with student orientation.
SEPTEMBER 1
FIRST DAY OF CLASS
Orientation week ends with a run-through of classes that meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
SEPTEMBER 5
NO CLASSES
After a full week of orientation and two days of class, students will take Monday off to get ready for the start of our normal rhythm of classes.

FOUNDER'S DAY GATHERING

TEACHER CONFERENCES
At Gravitas, we partner with parents and guardians to guide students on their journey from wonder to wisdom. During this day, parents and guardians can book individual meetings with their student's teachers and advisors to discuss their progress in their courses and to get a preview of the curriculum for the remainder of the term.
October 15
OPTIONAL PSAT AND ASIAN NIGHT MARKET
If you are a 10th or 11th grader interested in taking the PSAT on campus, you are welcome to do so. See Dr. Riley's email regarding the details, and be sure to reach out to Mr. Macchia (and cc Dr. Riley) by September 7. That evening will also be our Asian Night Market, a student led event featuring Asian food and fun games. Register here.
NOVEMBER 14-18
ORAL ASSESSMENT/PASSION ACADEMY WEEK
At Gravitas, we believe the true mark of a student's understanding is the ability to teach the concepts to another person. That's why we employ oral assessments at the end of each term. Students will book individual or small group meetings with their teachers during this week and prepare to demonstrate their understanding orally. When they are not studying for their oral assessments, students are encouraged to make progress on their Passion Academy courses and independent projects.
NOVEMBER 18
END OF TRIMESTER 1
Gravitas students conclude their first trimester courses and take a week off for Thanksgiving.
NOVEMBER 19-27
THANKSGIVING BREAK
NOVEMBER 28
TRIMESTER 2 BEGINS
Gravitas students begin their second trimester courses or continue their ongoing multi-term courses.
DECEMBER 23-JANUARY 8
CHRISTMAS BREAK
Gravitas is off to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the Western New Year.

To honor the life and legacy of Dr. King, Gravitas students take the day off from classes and are encouraged to participate in local community service.
